Resumen

MENDOZA-BARRERA, Claudia. Estudio de interacciones de Estaterina con superficies de hidroxiapatita: Análisis de superficie. Superf. vacío [online]. 2005, vol.18, n.4, pp.31-34. ISSN 1665-3521.

In the biomineralization process some living organisms incorporate insoluble minerals compounds into their biological structures, creating biominerals that are usually hard but much less brittle than the those similar found on geological minerals. Such biominerals have the same composition but different crystal structure. The remarkable material properties of hard tissues result from the activities of a number of proteins that function at the organic-inorganic interface. A better understanding of how these proteins recognize and assemble on inorganic mineral phases should provide key insights into biological materials processing strategies and may aid in the development of surface modification approaches for biomaterials. In this paper we used x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to study and characterize the interactions of statherin, a salivary protein, with hydroxyapatite (HAp) surfaces. We use survey, detail and high resolution scans to stablish substrates composition, protein adsorption and nitrogen isotherm.
