This article problematizes the notion of interpretation in the field of social science, particularly in the field of qualitative research. It is an effort to open up a reflection concerning this thorny, complex and controversial issue that deals with "truth" and the process of construction of knowledge and meaning in these sciences. Furthermore, it is a proposal about the problem of the validation sustained in the reflection concerning interpretation within the framework of social sciences, beginning with the subject-language relation and the hypothetical formulation of the meaning of a text in terms of relational structures.
