MALDONADO ARANDA, Salvador. Nuevas ciudadanías en el México rural: Derechos agrarios, espacio público y el Estado neoliberal. LiminaR [online]. 2010, vol.8, n.1, pp.46-63. ISSN 2007-8900.
This paper presents a case study through which we intend to raise a debate on ways in which it was built and reconfigured the public in rural Mexico from the constitutional reform of Article 27. The stories that shaped suburbs like San Juan in Michoacan state, pose a very complex debate over land rights, ownership and the creation of public spaces for discussion and questioning. In this paper I argue that the new Land Law and had an impact should be very diverse, broad and contrasting the lives of ejidatarios whose agrarian changes can be analyzed from a perspective of citizenship. What kinds of citizenship are taking place in the field? I argue that the new rural citizenships are forging a kind of individualism increasingly dangerous, as the state abandons rural and large geographic areas so that rural violence and drug trafficking seems to be an expression of the absence of institutions that mediate relations social.
