MANUEL ORTEGA, Jorge Isaac. Achievements and Challenges of an Autonomous University in its Role in Preparing Students in Aspects of Citizenship: a Students’ Perspective. LiminaR [online]. 2020, vol.18, n.1, pp.164-176. Epub 15-Mayo-2020. ISSN 2007-8900. https://doi.org/10.29043/liminar.v18i1.722.
The purpose of this study is to understand the perspective of students at the campus of Social and Economic and Administrative Sciences and Humanities of the Autonomous University of Yucatan regarding the impact the university had on their development as citizens. Through in-depth interviews and content analysis, information was obtained from 40 students enrolled at different colleges at the campus with different levels of participation in civil society. I found that the university experience allows access to resources and experiences that promote the development of citizenship, but that formal university requirements often curb or limit this development.
