This paper is about the subjects of memory and nation in the memorial texts of Carlos Drummond de Andrade (1902-1987), Murilo Mendes (1901-1975), and Pedro Nava (1903-1984), written in the 1960’s and 1980’s, as if it was a critical rewriting of the modernist project of nation of which they were some of the main promoters in the 1930’s in Brazil. The reading raises the writing of the nation as a boundary and threshold of cultural difference.
