Resumen

TORRES-SCOTT, Andrés. Borges in the Shadow of Lovecraft: “There are More Things”. Latinoamérica [online]. 2020, n.71, pp.37-61.  Epub 22-Ene-2021. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cialc.24486914e.2020.71.57187.

The objective of this paper is to place Borges’ short story “There are More Things” as a pastiche that includes Lovecraft’s technique to write supernatural horror. Its originality resides in identifying the sources of Lovecraft’s work that could have been read by Borges and in pointing out specific and general references in “There are More Things” to Lovecraft’s short stories. The method uses Lovecraft’s supernatural horror theory. The conclusions state how Borges included in TMT the eight characteristics considered by Lovecraft as essential in writing a weird tale.

Palabras llave : Borges; Lovecraft; Weird tale; Supernatural; Hypotext; Cosmic horror.
