TORRES GARCIA, David Humberto. Murals as artifacts of memory within the geographies of terror in Veracruz. Andamios [online]. 2022, vol.19, n.50, pp.243-273. Epub 29-Sep-2023. ISSN 2594-1917. https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v19i50.950.
The article aims to reflect on the use of the mural as an artifact of memory in the region Las Altas Montañas in Veracruz, Mexico. The investigation was based on ethnographic work. Interviews were conducted with the members of collective of families of the disappeared from the Orizaba-Córdoba region, and participant observation took part in clandestine graves and during the painting of a mural in the city of Orizaba. By way of conclusion, it is observed that murals expressively activate the actors’ memory in contexts of violence, resignifying the past and develop a connection of meanings with the present experience and future expectations.
