Resumen
HERNANDEZ TORRES, José Eduardo y MELGOZA CONTRERAS, Luz María. Main oral osmotic systems. Rev. mex. cienc. farm [online]. 2014, vol.45, n.3, pp.7-16. ISSN 1870-0195.
The conventional delivery systems have a poor control over drug released, resulting in variable plasmatic levels. As a result, systems of osmotic controlled release have been developed; they are independent of body's physiological conditions (pH, food and peristalsis). Drug release can be programmed by knowing physicochemical properties of the drug and the dosage form. This review discusses: theoretical concepts of drug releasing in these systems, including their advantages and disadvantages; different kinds of oral osmotic systems, also the factors affecting these systems and their status in the market.
Palabras llave : Controlled release; oral via; osmosis; osmotic pressure; semipermeable membrane.
