Elections are the peaceful mechanism to form the representative organs of the State. They endow citizens with legitimacy through free suffrage. Therefore, they need a design with instruments that make them accessible, meaningful, generate conciliation and certainty at each stage of the electoral process. The preliminary results programs aim to inform in advance the voting trends in a period between the closing of the polls and the publication of the official results. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to explain the importance of these tools from two perspectives. First, it is important to address quick counts and exit polls as tools that strengthen electoral democracy. On the other hand, it is important to assess these tools from a statistical point of view, by explaining the levels of significance and the margin of error in the construction of samples.
