Resumen

RODRIGUEZ-ALMARAZ, Gabino A. et al. Additional records of wild populations of the Australian crayfish Cherax quadricarinatus in Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2018, vol.89, n.4, pp.1322-1327. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2018.4.2065.

The Australian red claw crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) was brought to Mexico in 1995 for experimental studies and subsequently its culture was promoted in different regions of the country. The limited success of commercial cultures of the species and probably other anthropogenic factors have permitted the establishment of wild populations in 5 states of Mexico. Monitoring and field collection in aquatic habitats conducted from 2013 to 2017, resulted in the first record of Cherax quadricarinatus in a natural aquatic environment of Nuevo Leon and in additional records for southern Tamaulipas. The maximum sizes observed were 7.04 and 7.10 cm of CL, for Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, respectively. In all monitored sites, females appeared in greater proportion.

Palabras llave : Exotic species; Cherax quadricarinatus; Mexico.
