Resumen
SANTIN PENA, Oliver. La conformación de la Cámara de los Comunes y los gobiernos de Canadá en cinco procesos electorales federales (2000-2011): Primera parte. Norteamérica [online]. 2012, vol.7, n.2, pp.141-168. ISSN 2448-7228.
This article is aimed at demonstrating the recent evolution of Canada's political milieu from 2000 to 2011. In this period it has shifted from a government with an absolute Liberal majority headed by Jean Chrétien, to one with a Conservative majority and Stephen Harper as prime minister. This change is the result of hard-fought political-electoral battles that have necessitated polling the electorate five times over an 11-year period, meaning that federal elections have been called practically every two years. This provides clear evidence of the vigorous partisan activism in the country over the last decade.
