ALBARRAN MACIAS, Dulce y MEJIA REYES, Pablo. Volume, Intensity, and Proportion of Intra-industry Bilateral Mexico-U.S. Trade (1981-2017). Norteamérica [online]. 2020, vol.15, n.1, pp.87-110. Epub 22-Ene-2021. ISSN 2448-7228. https://doi.org/10.22201/cisan.24487228e.2020.1.416.
The aim of this article is to characterize Mexico-U.S. bilateral trade from 1981 to 2017, underlining the effects of Mexico’s entry into the GATT, NAFTA coming into effect, and China’s entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO). Although with some slowdowns at certain points, the results show increased volume, and, therefore, intensity of bilateral trade, although that intensity sometimes drops due to the different rhythms of world trade growth. Intraindustry trade showed sustained growth, which could reflect greater vertical integration of production.
