The purpose of this paper is to explain the bases of the formation process for the Japanese nation and the starting point that enables us to understand the Japanese society. This way will be able to interpret the importance that the historic character of Japan has had in the comprehension of its contemporary foreign economical policy as well as Official Development Assistance (ODA). For this reason, it is important to refer some of the historic fundamentals where social elements exist, which in our judgment, have to be considered in order to understand clearly the contemporary Japanese history.
