This paper proposes a statistical multiple linear regression model for decision-making on fuel efficiency with application to the motor carrier industry in Mexico considering the factors with the greatest impact on consumption. The model has applied statistical significance, and the explanatory variables: route type, age and amount of diesel consumed in low this with a significance of 5%, achieving explain 94% of the effect of modeling interest. The main contribution of this paper is a statistical model as a new management tool for decision makers in the sector in relation to the establishment of standards for fuel and general administration of this input, as was determined from the conditions operating in the transportation industry and not under experimental conditions (difficult to replicate) used by automotive manufacturers.
