ARTEAGA RAMIREZ, Ramón; ANGELES MONTIEL, Vicente y VAZQUEZ PENA, Mario Alberto. CROPWAT software for scheduling and handling hidric resource. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.2, pp.179-195. ISSN 2007-0934.
In Mexico surface under irrigation is 6.1 million hectares and in more than 90% irrigation system is by gravity, having low efficiency in water use, reason why is important to have computer software that help professionals in management and handling of irrigation water. Objectives of this work were: to define different methods of CROPWAT software and to indicate data need, to carry out simulation in sugar cane with different frequency options and irrigation application, to make irrigation schedule for cultivation plan of irrigation module III-1 from Irrigation District 035, at Antigua-Actopan, Veracruz and to define if needs of water calculated for cultivation plan are satisfied with water availability that has. Methods of CROPWAT determine: reference evapotranspiration (ET0), water needs of cultivations, effective precipitation and irrigation needs; also irrigation calendar is based on a daily balance of soil humidity with several options of water application and conditions of irrigation handling for cultivations pattern and irrigation schedule. It was determined that water availability of irrigation module III-1 satisfies, together with precipitation, water needs of cultivations plan for agricultural year 2005-2006 in most of the months, except for October.
Palabras llave : effective precipitation; irrigation calendar and requirements; reference evapotranspiration; water needs of cultivation.
