Resumen

MARTINEZ DAMIAN, Miguel Ángel; MORA FLORES, José Saturnino  y  TELLEZ DELGADO, Ricardo. Live cattle and inputs price in the production of beef. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.7, pp.1689-1694. ISSN 2007-0934.

Beef is an important staple in Mexican population and livestock a socioeconomically important activity for the country. The aim of this study was to measure the effect that live cattle, as well as prices of inputs have on beef production: waste of bread, sorghum and corn. For this purpose a Displacement of Equilibrium Model (MDE) fed with the supplies elasticities function: elasticity own price and elasticities of inputs price, was used. The results showed that meat production, has a decline rate of 6.4% per year, derived from the highest increase in input prices and from the reduced growth in the price of live cattle; if this trends continue, a reduction in beef production will occur and with it a possible increase in imports, or substitution of this for chicken or pork.

Palabras llave : displacement of equilibrium; elasticities; growth rate.
