Resumen

PULIGA, Federica. Philosophy as a Calling: Life as Love of Wisdom. Rev. filos.open insight [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.17, pp.99-129.  Epub 02-Mayo-2023. ISSN 2395-8936.  https://doi.org/10.23924/oi.v9n17a2018.pp99-131.288.

This paper aims to remember who the authentic philosopher is and which is its mission as, nowadays, Philosophy is often confused with mere erudition. The polymath treasures knowledge. Unlike him, the philosopher accepts the truth and tries to live by it: truth possesses the philosophers. Philosophers find their true calling and their authentic mission in such a possession, living a meaningful and intimate life configured by that experience, and sharing with the others the fruits of their inquiries, specially with those who have not yet been chosen by the truth. María Zambrano and Xavier Zubiri’s thoughts on the definition of Philosophy will help us shape the argument claiming that Philosophy constitutes the search of truth as a way of serving others by understanding and communicating the truth.
