This work covers the conceptual bases and main issues when stating a research subject, now under way on innovations targeted at improving higher education. Concretely, it states how to address the study of innovation in continuous education of university faculty, by linking them to a practical community in the form of a social network to enter into a dialogue and simultaneously promote innovations in the practice of the faculty. We seek to learn about the feasibility of the practice community, its usefulness in professional development and how discussion projects of faculty function under the wing of this community. This research has a theoretical bases related to collective reflection on the proper practice and, linked to transformation with the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in university teaching uses the same research-action tools to investigate said practices. Some of the first results are included, solely to illustrate the nature of this proposal.
