SERRANO-GUZMAN, María Fernanda y PEREZ-RUIZ, Diego Darío. Análisis de sensibilidad para estimar el módulo de elasticidad estático del concreto. Concr. cem. investig. desarro [online]. 2010, vol.2, n.1, pp.17-30. ISSN 2007-3011.
During analysis and design of reinforced concrete structures is required the elasticity or Young Modulus of Concrete, Ec, which is related to the compressive strength. At the present the modulus of elasticity that is used in structural design in Colombia is based in the values recommended by the 1998 "Norma Sismo Resistente (NSR-98), Ec =12,500 √f'c (kg/cm2), which does not account for locally available aggregates. A whole of 611 concrete specimens were cured, each one with a compressive strength of 210 kg/cm2. The results analysis shown that the equation proposed by NSR-98 must be adjusted to be applied locally, recommending Ec = 6,250c√f'c (Kg/cm2). In addition, it is recommended to use the equation proposed by ACI when it is known the unit weight of the concrete. The modified ACI equation proposed is given by Ec = 0.054W1,5√f'c (Kg/cm2). Furthermore, for concretes with W = 2,375 Kg/m3 and f'c = 210 kg/cm2 the NSR-98 equation overestimate the Ec in 50% Meanwhile, the ACI and the European Standard Equation overestimate the Ec in 24% and 46.2% respectively.
