It is presented a probabilistic formulation in order to estimate the next time of inspection/maintenance in a reinforced concrete bridge exposed to corrosion in the Valley of Toluca. The formulation is based on the probability of failure calculation considered as limit state the leave of the cracking time when the resistant moment decreases in time due to the corrosion evolution. FORM (First Order Reliability Methods) are used to evaluate the reliability rate of the bridge, lognormal distributions for the moment and the acting maximum shear and criteria and standards previously developed in order to forecast the evolution of corrosion in time. The reference bridge in this article is located at the junction between Tollocan and Pino Suárez, in the city of Toluca and the results show that the reliability rate could be reduced to the minimum acceptable, after 50 years, therefore the bridge is today is in acceptable conditions.
