OIKION SOLANO, Verónica. El círculo de poder del presidente Cárdenas. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2012, n.3. ISSN 2007-4964.
This article describes the process through which the Cardenista power group was constituted during the presidency of Lázaro Cárdenas del Río (1934-1940). The qualities of statesmanship that characterized this Pre sident were demonstrated as he integrated a working team that exercised political power while also immersing itself in actions of negotiation and public administration. In multiple domains of Mexico’s national reality, the labors of the Cardenistas led to the materialization of Cárdenas’ ideas encapsulated in the so-called ‘social program’ of the Mexican Revolution. Even after 1940, General Cárdenas and his nucleus of followers continued to vindicate his inclusive, reformist, nationalist and anti-imperialist social project as a political strategy.
