Objective:

To determine the quantity and characteristics of mobile applications used by the Mexican health system to improve access and use of health services compared to international applications.

Materials and Methods:

We identified the applications created by official health entities of México and other countries in 3 operating systems. The search was done using the words "ISSSTE" "ISSSTE" "SSA" "SECRETARIA DE SALUD" "MINISTERIO DE SALUD" in 4 languages from April 21, 2015 to January 27, 2016 and from October 1 to November 1. The applications were classified based on the type of access barrier they attended, country of origin and search Word.

Results:

There were 45 different mobile applications, 17.77% (n = 8) of applications were national and 37 (82.22%) were international mobile applications. were utilization and process with 41.3% (national 15%, other countries 85%), then organizational barriers 35% (national 21%, international 79%, other countries) And 23.8% of the geographical barriers (26% national and 74% of other countries). We did not found any application that overcame economic barriers. At the national level, it was found that the Ministry of Health was the subsystem with the highest number of applications (n = 4), IMSS and ISSSTE had the same number of applications (n = 2).

Conclusions:

The Most of the applications found were created for users of Health Systems, however there are applications for health professionals or both. Mexico is one of the countries with the greatest number of applications. The subsystem that served as the greatest facilitator was the SSA, followed by the IMSS and ISSSTE.
