Objective:

to identify the prevalence of subclinical hypothyroidism in women with infertility in the period January-December 2018, in a maternal and child hospital.

Material and methods:

Observational, descriptive, prospective and transversal study, carried out in the Reproduction Biology Service of a maternal and child hospital, from January to December 2018, with 398 women diagnosed with infertility, of which 20 presented subclinical hypothyroidism. With a cutting range Thyroid-stimulating hormone greater than 2.5 μg.

Results:

The average age was 31 years, with a minimum age of 26 and a maximum age of 37 years. The patients presented mostly primary infertility with 80% (f = 16). The remaining 20% (f = 4) were diagnosed with secondary infertility, two of them presenting with recurrent abortions, and two with term pregnancies. Years of infertility patients ranged from 2 to 10 years, with an average of 4.5 years. Thyroid-stimulating hormone values with an average of 7.9

Conclusions:

prevalence of subclinical hypothyroidism in women with infertility treated in the Biology Clinic of Human reproduction is 5%.
