Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder of chromosome 21 characterized by a trisonomy; there are three variants: simple trisonomy, translocation and mosaicism. This produces delay of mental and psychomotor development and involves an adaptive process of parents. A quantitative, cross-cutting and descriptive research was conducted on a sample of twelve parents to whom the Family Adaptation Questionnaire was applied on children with Down Syndrome of the ICAI Pontifical University, ICADE COMILAS, Madrid; it is concluded that care falls on women, 50% is separated or divorced, 100% knew the diagnosis before birth, 83% go to private stimulation centers and 50% refer to them generated more couple problems than they expected.
