Resumen

PAPEZ, Boris. Nostalgias in pandemic. Cultural practices and emotions in Argentina. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2022, vol.17, n.33, e0001993.  Epub 05-Mayo-2023. ISSN 2007-8110.

The aim of this article is to study nostalgic experiences during COVID-19 confinement in Argentina. The methodology was based on the qualitative analysis of eleven auto-ethnographies made by university students residing in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (BAMA) and six subsequent interviews with the same subjects, always focused on their cultural practices during this period. We observed that the return to games, series, movies, books, or already known recipes channeled the representation and re-living of a past that was imagined to be more satisfying than the present time. What were the meanings given to these experiences and why did they take place during confinement, especially in its beginnings? We argue that the causes of the extension of nostalgic sensations must be thought of in relation to the radical alteration of a present that in this process shaped, in turn, a new past.
