OCHOA-FUENTES, Yisa María et al. Pathogenic variability of Phytophthora cinnamomi Rands in Persea americana Mill. of Michoacan, Mexico. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2015, vol.2, n.5, pp.211-215. ISSN 2007-901X.
Eight different genetic variants of v Phytophthora cinnamomi; nine avocado plants were inoculated with each one of the genetic variants and the control with sterile distilled water. The incidence and severity of the disease were determined using Zentmyers modified scale to assess severity. The data were studied using a variance analysis, Tukey tests at 0.05 were also carried out. Our results regarding P. cinnamomi incidence, presented a significant difference between Strain C4 and the check-plant. As far as the severity is concerned, the essay showed that plants inoculated with strains C6, C7 and C8 from Uruapan and Peribán regions, died at the end of the experiment; while plants inoculated with C3, C4 and C5 isolates, suffered severe damage; and Cl, C2 from Salvador Escalante locality presented moderate damage. Therefore, our essay demonstrated the pathogenic variability of P. cinnamomi strains coming from very close populations, located at 60 kms from each other.
