PEDRAZA, Claudia Ivette. The Myth of the Neutral Field: The Gendered Assignment of Work in Sport Journalism Newsrooms. Rev. interdiscip. estud. género Col. Méx. [online]. 2020, vol.6, e510. Epub 09-Sep-2020. ISSN 2395-9185. https://doi.org/10.24201/reg.v6i0.510.
This article seeks is to describe how the gender logic of journalistic culture affects women´s likelihood of being appointed of senior positions and of gaining recognition in the world of sports journalism. Through interviews with journalists, this paper analyzes the gender-based division of journalistic work that determines which subjects and sports are suitable for women journalists. This barrier makes it harder for women to obtain the necessary recognition to publish a column, and becomes a glass ceiling effectively preventing them from assuming decision-making roles in newsrooms.
