INGRASSIA, Paola  y  WEIDMANN, María Fernanda. The Traces of the Patriarchal Discourse in the San Juan Graphic Press. Analysis Proposal for Media Discourses on Women. Rev. mex. opinión pública [online]. 2020, n.28, pp.77-92.  Epub 07-Sep-2020. ISSN 2448-4911.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484911e.2020.28.70408.

The work that follows presents and applies a category of analysis specifically developed for the study of gender violence news. The tool is the result of a process of theoretical triangulation between the contributions of socio-semiotics and gender studies. Our goal was to identify the traces of the patriarchal discourse in the notes published by Diario de Cuyo, in its online version, about two cases of girls from San Juan who were raped, became pregnant, and accessed the Legal Interruption of Pregnancy during 2018 and 2019.

The relevance of the investigation arises from the central attention that the media agendas provided in recent times to the cases of Argentine girls who were victims of rape and the revictimization that characterized their speeches.

We consider that the role of the media has been decisive in the construction of social reality since, through their speeches, understood as phenomena of meaning, they have promoted a parti cular way of interpreting events. The results of the analysis showed the discursive strategies with which the graphic press has reinforced and naturalized the inequities between men and women.
