Resumen
GOMEZ, Irazú. Trans* women in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas. Between the hegemony of the sex-gender system, the biomedical discourse and the political resignification. Inter disciplina [online]. 2024, vol.12, n.32, pp.65-82. Epub 15-Mar-2024. ISSN 2448-5705. https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2024.32.86918.
In this article I elaborate a reflection around the sex-gender system and its relationship with the biomedical discourse in relation to trans* women in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas. A southern border city, in which a sociocultural interaction persists, derived from the binary gender norm that reproduces contexts of inequality affecting this group. In order to understand some of the consequences of these dynamics, I present as a case study the life story of Flor, a trans* woman, Tseltal, local migrant in the Los Altos region.
