Resumen

HERRERA TORRES, Hugo Amador; AGUIRRE OCHOA, Jerjes Izcóatl  y  ARIAS TORRES, Daniela. Causal variables in growth of size State. Investig. adm. [online]. 2019, vol.48, n.123. ISSN 2448-7678.

The objective is to identify and hierarchize the causal variables of the growth of the size of the State taking into account the main theoretical approaches of the subject. The research method considers a frequency analysis of the contributions of the most important authors and the estimation of Saaty's algorithm. The results show that the variables that affect the size of the State are the income of the population, the specific demands of the population, and the productivity of state organizations. The first variable has a relevance in the literature of 37.90%, the second of 20.70% and the third of 41.40%. The limitation of the study is in the period of the publications analyzed (1950 to 2010). The originality of the article lies in the research techniques and the links established between the contributions of the authors. In the findings it stands out that some approaches handle categories and variables indistinctly. Not placing variables at the center of the causal design of policies that seek to improve the operation of the State can produce unexpected effects.

Palabras llave : size of the State; income of the population; specific demands; productivity of the State; theoretical approaches.
