Resumen

GAMINO ESTRADA, Claudia  y  JUAREZ BECERRA, Isabel. Female convent foundations in the capital of Nueva Galicia. Historical outline (16th to 18th centuries). Let. hist. [online]. 2020, n.23, pp.45-83.  Epub 04-Mayo-2021. ISSN 2448-8372.  https://doi.org/10.31836/lh.v0i23.7215.

In the past of colonial Guadalajara the institutions of second orders had a spaced and late appearance, and their presence was less than in cities such as Mexico and Puebla, despite being the seat of the Royal Audience of Nueva Galicia and the bishopric of Guadalajara. The purpose of this article is to understand the founding processes of female congregations and to discern, to some extent, why one or the other monastic branches were established. Its study also allows to identify the strategies and interests that each establishment engulfed, devotional influences, the impulse and prevalence of certain religious orders over others, and even, conflicts between the ecclesiastical authorities and those of the Royal Audience.

Palabras llave : institutions; convents; female religious orders; Guadalajara.
