PRIETO MEJIA, J. Paola. The Diaz-Creelman interview in Bogota, or the history of a silence. Let. hist. [online]. 2021, n.25, 00005. Epub 06-Jun-2022. ISSN 2448-8372. https://doi.org/10.31836/lh.25.7316.
Abstract: The objective of this article is to analyze the conditions of publication and reception in Bogotá of the translation of the interview made in 1907 by the American journalist James Creelman to the President of Mexico Porfirio Díaz. I start by pointing out the characteristics and importance that document in the Mexican environment; and then explain the relationship between Presidents Rafael Reyes and Porfirio Díaz, a central aspect when it comes to understanding the early publication of the interview in Bogotá, only after it was done in Mexico City and New York. And, finally, I analyze the elements that explain the silence with which the interview in Colombia was received, by identifying the political uses that its publication intended to serve.
