SALCEDO-GONZALEZ, Quetzalli y GALLARDO-LOPEZ, Lizbeth. An evaluation model for mobile app icons: the SM2Mobile. Zincografía [online]. 2021, vol.5, n.10, pp.66-88. Epub 24-Ene-2022. ISSN 2448-8437. https://doi.org/10.32870/zcr.v5i10.89.
The objective of this article is to present an evaluation model for mobile app icons called SM2Mobile. For the development of this research, we useda method based on case studies. The result is a semiological evaluation model whose elements are related to a set of computing qualities and iconographic factors. The SM2Mobile was applied in a case study where two populations participated, one of experts and the other of users. After comparing the results of the evaluations of both, no statistical evidence was found to say that the mean of the populations was significantly different. However, other case studies will need to be conducted to validate this finding. The SM2Mobile is proposed as a tool to evaluate an existing app on the market; but also as an evaluation instrument applicable in the app design stage. If the effectiveness of the SM2Mobile is proven, it will allow experts in graphical user interface design to improve the function of the icon, and in communication in general.
