UC CHAVEZ, Víctor Manuel. Politics of cruelty, politics of Life Death. Cuicuilco. Rev. cienc. antropol. [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.76, pp.193-233. Epub 02-Oct-2020. ISSN 2448-8488.
This article sheds light on some conceptions of cruelty from which certain politics will be delimited: both the politics that emerge as a result of cruelty, either because they entail or claim cruelty, along with politics that allow cruelty to be addressed. In this regard, the apories that emerge from the fact of postulating politics that gravitate around cruelty are addressed. By exploring some examples of cruelty -‘the death penalty’ and ‘the extermination of the so-called animals’- it is shown that, whether it is the politics themselves that involve cruelty, or those that are designed to counteract it, in both cases the relationship between life and death is manifest. The argumentative thread of this article draws on the thoughts of the French philosopher Jacques Derrida.
