OCHOA-JASSO, Arturo y JUSTINIANI-CEDENO, Nancy. Encephalitis by antibodies against N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors secondary to leptospirosis. Rev. med. Hosp. Gen. Méx. [online]. 2019, vol.82, n.1, pp.44-49. Epub 06-Sep-2021. ISSN 2524-177X. https://doi.org/10.24875/hgmx.m19000004.
Receptors N-methyl D-aspartame are proteins that form ion channels permeable to Ca++, and intervene in synaptic transmission and control the electrical impulses of the Central Nervous system, intervening in functions such as perception, memory, judgment, learning, human interaction and autonomic functions such as berthing and swallowing. A case in presented in 13 a female of 13 years old which was initially handled as viral encephalitis, accompanied by compulsive crisis, and later as a psychiatric patient, with symptoms such as hallucinations, delirium, language incoherent self and hetero aggressiveness, secondary to a neuroinfection by Leptospirosis.
