EUROZA ANTUNEZ, Rocío Bárbara. The dilapidated state of the Nativitas pump house and its heritage status in Xochimilco. Academia XXII [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.27, pp.6-31. Epub 18-Jun-2024. ISSN 2594-083X. https://doi.org/10.22201/fa.2007252xp.2023.27.85738.
The dilapidated state of the Nativitas pump house today is a testimony that allows us to reflect on what constitutes architectural heritage, and on how to appreciate the value of this site. This historical research proposes a qualitative, descriptive, and evaluative methodology, with the aim of contributing to the conservation of this heritage and to highlight the ecological imbalance. The supply of water has been essential to the development of Mexico City; at the end of the 19th Century, when urban growth caused water shortages and a sanitary crisis, new supplies were sought. At the beginning of the 20th Century, infrastructure was put into operation with urban, architectural, constructive and technological contributions, the operability of which eventually led to the ecological transformation of the lake basin of the Valley of Mexico.
