GALINDO DIAZ, Jorge. Experimental houses at the Inter-American Housing Center-CINVA, 1952-1956. Academia XXII [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.27, pp.112-137. Epub 18-Jun-2024. ISSN 2594-083X. https://doi.org/10.22201/fa.2007252xp.2023.27.85757.
This article, a partial result of an ongoing research project, describes the way in which, during its initial years of operation, the Inter-American Housing Center (CINVA) adopted a method of progressive development with the aim of designing and constructing low-cost prototype housing, thereby providing a solution to the existing housing deficit at the time. The result was a complex of experimental houses conceived under the principles of standardization, prefabrication, and industrialization; however, a shift towards self-build housing production marked the end of this interesting technological experiment in the Latin American context.
