Resumen

ZAVALA GUTIERREZ, Noel et al. Seismic fragility of a reinforced concrete building using vector-valued seismic intensity measures based on spectral shape. Rev. cienc. tecnol. [online]. 2022, vol.5, n.2, e220.  Epub 14-Ago-2023. ISSN 2594-1925.  https://doi.org/10.37636/recit.v5n2e220.

Vector-valued ground motion intensity measures have shown to be more efficient compared to traditional intensity measures for predicting the response of structures with non-linear behavior or those dominated by higher modes; however, few studies have demonstrated the capability of these new parameters to estimate the seismic fragility of buildings with good accuracy. In the present work, eight vector-valued seismic intensity measures composed of two parameters were analyzed. For all the cases, the pseudo-acceleration at the fundamental mode of vibration of the structure, Sa(T 1 ), was used as the first component of the vector, and the peak ground acceleration, peak ground velocity, effective duration, seismic potential, and the spectral shape parameters R T1, T2 , Np Sa , Np V , and Np Sv , as the second component of the vector. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the selected intensity measures in the seismic fragility analysis, a 10-level reinforced concrete building was subjected to 30 narrow-band seismic records obtained in the soft soil of México City. The results have shown that the vector-valued seismic intensity measures that present a better relationship with the probability of failure are <Sa(T 1 ), Np Sa > compared to the other parameters; especially regarding Sa(T 1 ) which is widely used in current building codes. Therefore, it is desirable that future building regulations should consider more appropriate ground motion intensity measures.
