This work analyzes family accounts, documents and personal correspondence during a foundational period of the Mexican Revolution (1913-1916), a time which includes the Ten Tragic Days and the later alliance between the south and north warlords. The name Ten Tragic Days refers to the ten days of combat in Mexico City that led to the coup d'état to overthrow the legitimate president Francisco I Madero who had been elected after a 20 year dictatorship. This event, as well as the assassination of the president, gave raise to confused information and outrage. The hermeneutic analysis is an interpretative one, following Paul Ricoeur’s proposal of his two conceptual tools: trace and archive. Three research sources were used: testimony from the protagonist’s son of this history under análisis (declared memory), personal correspondence and historic documents.
