The present article analyzes through a qualitative argumentative and documentary approach to research the importance of studying History for those who specialize in the study of Economic Sciences. The topic was developed in five sections, the first one provides an introduction; the second is about learning processes, the third one discusses and gives examples of the contribution of History to Economy; the fourth shows the slow decreasing of History contents in the curriculum of university programs in contrast to the development of the discipline Economic History as a token of the complementary between the discipline; and finally the fifth section presents the conclusions which highlight the way History and its methodologies have contributed to generating Economic Science explanations through the contribution of areas such as Historical Materialism, neo-institutionalism and the development of critical thinking.
