VIDELA, Hernán y SAHARREA, Inaki. Situated Epistemology of History: Exploring Writings and Politics in San Juan (UNSJ, Argentina 1983-1993). Debates hist. [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.2, pp.55-79. Epub 30-Oct-2023. ISSN 2594-2956. https://doi.org/10.54167/debates-por-la-historia.v11i2.1171.
This study is intertwined with the forthcoming commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the National University of San Juan (UNSJ), shedding light on the current challenges faced by history education and research within the institution. The research inquiry centers around the epistemological contributions made by the History Major of the School of Philosophy, Humanities, and Arts between 1983 and 1993. Within this framework, the investigation delves into the historical backdrop, spanning from the establishment of the university in 1973, through the period of the 1976 dictatorship, and into the restoration of democracy in the 1980s. The objective is to examine the corpus of work by employing source classification, methodological discernment, and problematization identification. By doing so, this study aims to unveil the epistemological and theoretical contributions that have enriched the landscape of historical studies in San Juan. The findings shed light on a historiography molded by the political shifts that accompanied Argentina's democratic revival. Moreover, this historiography has been contemporaneously refined in epistemological terms, a direct outcome of pedagogical and research initiatives within the autonomous academic environment of the Argentine periphery.
