Background:

Deep vein thrombosis is part of the thromboembolic venous disorders, which additionally include superficial thrombophlebitis and pulmonary thromboembolism.

Objective:

To correlate the risk factors, clinical manifestations, and value of D-dimer in blood with the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis by Doppler ultrasound.

Material and methods:

A retrospective, descriptive and correlational cross-sectional study was carried out that included 73 patients with suspected deep vein thrombosis.

Result:

The diagnosis of venous thrombosis was confirmed in 69 patients, with a higher incidence in women between 21 and 40 years old. A correlation was found between the clinic and high values of D-dimer with diagnostic confirmation of venous thrombosis by ultrasound (p ≈ 0.000). Pregnancy showed a correlation with diagnostic confirmation (p = 0.043).

Conclusions:

A significant correlation was found between pregnant women, clinical manifestations, and D-dimer value with the diagnosis of venous thrombosis by Doppler ultrasound.
