Resumen

QUEVEDO-HERNANDEZ, Servando et al. Subclavian artery pseudoaneurysm due to failed MAHURKAR™ catheter. Review and case report. Rev. mex. angiol. [online]. 2023, vol.51, n.1, pp.22-27.  Epub 12-Jun-2023. ISSN 2696-130X.  https://doi.org/10.24875/rma.22000025.

Pseudoaneurysms are relatively an infrequent pathology in the current literature. Those found in arteries within the thorax have a lower incidence, and there are few published studies. They are a complication after an infectious process, due to trauma or iatrogenic (central catheter placement), the last one being the etiology in our article. The diagnosis has evolved, being the contrasted imaging studies the choice and important starting point for the therapeutic approach. Open surgery continues to be an important option in clinical cases that are complex due to their location or size, and in the absence of equipment and material necessary for an endovascular approach. A review of the scientific literature on iatrogenic pseudoaneurysms is presented and a case of a 70-year-old patient treated surgically with a diagnosis of iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm after failed placement of a MAHURKAR™ catheter is described.
