GUZMAN AGUILAR, José. State of Exception of Illegal Immigrants in New York. “Trapped in the Golden Cage”. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2018, vol.63, n.233, pp.19-41. ISSN 0185-1918. https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.2448492xe.2018.233.57182.
This article seeks to reveal the biopolitical power of the State through the control of bodies, disposition or interference in the lives of illegal immigrants from Puebla in New York. Our methodological strategy focused on retaking testimonies from 80 semi-structured and structured interviews and a broad participant observation of their usual activities to determine the inclusion / exclusion of their life, lacking political qualities, rights and excluded from certain services. The results show how the biopolitical power of the State transcends the direct punishment of illegal immigrants as a result of their detention and deportation, while we provide information on individual actions that reflect ideas and beliefs of what is permiSSIble during their stay and contexts in that society which enforces the punishment.
