This work is to analyze the university’s mission, in a context of changes imposed by globalization and technological innovations. During the decade of 30, with the Universidade do Brasil, in Rio de Janeiro and the Universidade de São Paulo The Brazilian university appears. It is approximately 80 years old, it’s historical period is short compared to that of European university, in spite of what it presented us an important contribution to our development. The solutions we seek front to the actual crisis, look to guarantee it’s permanence, as well as a change of it’s paradigm for it’s improving. The public policies for this sector focalize on texts from educational area, constitutional and legal texts, articles, newspaper and magazine news and investigations. They begin analyzing the Fernando Henrique Cardoso government and immediately after signalize the Luis Inácio Lula da Silva intents of reverting these policies.
