Resumen
OGLIETTI, Guillermo. Crecimiento, demografía e inmigración: estimación en datos en panel para la Unión Europea. Estud. soc [online]. 2007, vol.15, n.29, pp.86-115. ISSN 0188-4557.
This research, grounded in a demand-side model of economic growth, propose that inmigration means a growing demand of consumer and capital goods that expands market opportunities and investment, generating a jump in the steady state rate of growth. A panel data applied to 14 european countries, finds a small negative effect of demographics on economic growth, reversed by far due to the large long run positive impact. Moreover, in every estimated especification, inmigration shows a positive but not robust relation with growth.
