RICHARD-JORBA, Rodolfo A.. Crisis y transformaciones recientes en la región vitivinícola argentina: Mendoza y San Juan, 1970-2005. Estud. soc [online]. 2008, vol.16, n.31, pp.81-123. ISSN 0188-4557.
This article shows an overview of the changes produced in the great winemaker region of Argentine during the last 35 years. There is a special reference to the institutional, managerial, technical and labor innovations. The reference to some antecedents about a century of viticulture developments allows us to appreciate the transformations of the industry and the role of the implicated social actors. It is important to emphasize the changes performed by the State that acted as promoter, regulator and manager, non regulator and promoter again but always connected with the manager sectors. The accelerated process of changes which happened from the 1990 decade presupposed a reorientation of the activity that has been concentrated in the internal market. This process placed the region at the international market of fine wines. The analysis at regional level is complemented with the changes produced at business firms level and the developed strategies to grow and compete.
