Urinary tract infections are one of the most common infections worldwide. The clinical suspicion is based on clinical features such as dysuria, urgency, frequency, suprapubic pain, and systemic illness signs and symptoms. Given this classic presentation, it is recommended to support the diagnosis with additional workups like urinalysis and urine culture. It is crucial to make an early diagnosis to start empirical therapy properly, improve the patient’s outcome and lower antimicrobial resistance. This article will describe the variables of the urinalysis with the highest prevalence of urinary tract infections confirmed by positive urine cultures.
