After World War II, Great Britain and France were no more the main international agents at the Middle East. The United States and the URSS replaced them. In addition to this new panorama, there was the recent foundation of the State of Israel. Due to that the Americans urgently needed petroleum from the Arab countries, they made alliances with the Arabs; meanwhile, they were attempting an impossible goal: to support the new Jewish State, which was petroleum-producing countries. This article analyzes the international totally rejected by the relations between the United States, Israel and the Arab countries. It attempts to explain which were the reasons for Washington to support the Tel Aviv, when, it seemed, that this support was producing more problems than benefits.
