The aim of this article is to define inter-union disputes and the main factors which cause them to arise. In order to respond to the question of which endogenous or exogenous factors could explain these this kind of conflict, the author adopts an analysis of the relevant literature on factors which affect inter-union conflict as a theoretical-methodological criteria, along with an empirical study of the administrative resolutions issued by the Ministry for Work, Employment, and Social Security of Argentina from 2008 to 2013. This research distinguishes exogenous and endogenous factors, and arrives at the conclusion that the latter are more influential in union conflicts, given the permanent tensions between unions, specifically tensions related to the unions’ approach and the strategies employed by their actors.
